Pekkish

Connecting Stripe

Pekkish uses Stripe Connect to accept card payments. Your earnings go directly into your own Stripe account; Pekkish never holds your money.

Before you start

Have these to hand:

  • Your business details — sole trader name or registered company name
  • A photo of your driver's licence or passport
  • Your business bank account details (sort code and account number)
  • Last 4 digits of your phone number (Stripe SMS verification)

The whole process takes about five minutes. You don't need an existing Stripe account — one is created as part of the flow.

1. Open the Payments page

In your shop admin sidebar, click Payments. You'll see a "Connect Stripe" button if you haven't set up payments yet.

2. Click "Connect Stripe"

You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding form. This is hosted by Stripe, not Pekkish — they handle identity verification and PCI compliance for you.

3. Complete Stripe's form

Stripe will ask for:

  • Business type — sole trader, limited company, partnership
  • Business name and address
  • Your personal details and ID for verification
  • Bank account for payouts

If you have to pause halfway, your progress is saved. Come back to the Payments page and you'll be picked up where you left off.

4. Verification

Stripe usually approves accounts within a few minutes. Occasionally they need extra documentation; if so, they email you with what's required.

5. Test that it's working

Once connected, the Payments page in Pekkish will show a green "Live" badge. Try placing a small test order through your own storefront using a real card — you can refund it afterwards by cancelling the order in pekkish.

Refunding an order

To refund a card order, open it in Pekkish and choose Cancel order. That refunds the customer's card and adjusts your commission for the month. Please don't issue the refund from your Stripe dashboard instead — the customer would still get their money, but Pekkish can't see a dashboard refund, so your commission wouldn't be reduced for it.

What about cash and card-machine orders?

Customers paying cash or via your card machine on collection bypass Stripe entirely — you handle those payments yourself. The platform fee still applies to those orders (we charge based on GMV, not payment method).

How do I get my money?

Stripe pays out to your bank account on a rolling basis — typically 2–7 working days after each charge, depending on your account history. You can adjust the payout schedule in your Stripe dashboard.

Common issues

  • Stripe says I can't enable card payments — usually means a verification document is missing. Check your email for instructions from Stripe.
  • I want to use a different Stripe account — contact support; we can help re-link.
  • My business address has changed — update it in your Stripe dashboard; the change flows through automatically.
