Your customers

Looking a customer up when they ring, checking the emails we sent them, reading what they've told you, writing to the ones who asked to hear from you, and approving new delivery addresses.

Looking up a customer

Customers lists everyone who has ordered from you, in email order. Search by part of an email address or a phone number: "they said they never got the confirmation" is usually answered in one search.

A customer's page shows:

  • Total spent, Orders, Avg order and their Last order.
  • Their account: whether they've ever signed in, whether their email is confirmed, when they became a customer, and whether the account is locked after too many wrong passwords.
  • Any voucher credit or referral credit they have to spend with you.
  • Their saved delivery addresses, how they usually order (collection or delivery) and their favourite items.
  • Every order, and their email history: each email we sent them, whether it was delivered and whether it was opened.

For a catering shop, the customer's page is also where you set which organisation they order for (see Organisations). Staff can look customers up; only owners and admins can change the organisation.

The emails we send for you

Email shows the emails Pekkish sends your customers on your behalf (order confirmations, receipts, reminders), with how many were sent, delivered and opened, broken down by type, and the most recent ones.

Treat opens as a rough signal only: Apple Mail opens many messages automatically to protect its users' privacy, so an "opened" email may not have been read, and plenty of real reads are never counted. Delivery is the reliable number. When a customer says an email never arrived, their page under Customers shows exactly what was sent and whether it was delivered.

Feedback from customers

Customers can leave you a note from their account page. Notes arrive under Feedback, with unread ones counted in the sidebar. You can:

  • Mark read once you've dealt with it.
  • Choose Not for us — send to Pekkish when it's about the website or app rather than your food ("the checkout wouldn't load"). It moves to us and we deal with it.
  • Delete it.

How quickly you hear about new feedback is under Notifications (see Notifications).

Announcements

Announcements lets you email the customers who have opted in to hear from you: a new menu, a holiday closure, a special. Customers opt in from their account profile, and the page shows how many have.

  1. Choose New announcement, write a subject and your message, and press Save draft.
  2. Press Send test. It comes to your own email address, so you can see it exactly as your customers will.
  3. Press Send to customers. You can only send once a test has gone out, and editing it afterwards means testing again, so what customers receive is always what you checked.

Sent announcements stay listed with how many were delivered and opened. Replies go to the reply-to address under Settings → General.

Approving delivery addresses

When a customer adds a new delivery address, Pekkish measures how far it is from your nearest delivering location, and:

  • approves it automatically if it's within your Auto-approve within distance, or close to an address you've already approved;
  • declines it if it's further than your maximum delivery distance;
  • holds it for you if it's in between, or if the address can't be located on a map.

Both distances are set under Settings → Ordering & availability. Held addresses appear under Addresses, counted in the sidebar, with the customer's driver notes and any message they left. Approve or Decline each one. A decision can be changed later ("Approve after all"). Anyone on your team, including staff, can approve addresses.
