Ditch speculative stock and then ask why you didn't do it earlier

One of the main problems of a delivery round is trying to guess how much stock to carry with you to satisfy your customers. Too little and you leave your customers hungry as well as their money unspent. Carry too much and you risk taking some of it back again and that just becomes wastage.

Once you've started using Pekkish, your customers will order online and you'll set off, comfortable in the knowledge that you've already made some sales that day. But should you still carry some speculative stock? Just for those customers who can't make up their minds in advance.

It's tempting, and I wholly understand the desire not lose out on that extra bit of business each day. However, I would argue that there's a much greater advantage (actually two advantages) to ditching speculative stock and insisting all your customers place their orders in advance.

Firstly, your guessing game can stop and there wastage reduces to zero immediately. No more sandwiches in the bin AND all of your customers get exactly what they want.

The second reason is time. You have a limited window of time to make all of your deliveries and if you carry speculative stock, you'll spend a lot of that time sitting outside offices waiting for people to turn up, choose and then pay. With online orders only, you can simply drop the orders at each location and then nip straight to the next drop. Depending on the distance between your customers, a single driver could visit three or four times as many locations. That's the same as employing one driver that can magically do the work of four drivers!

The advantages of time and zero wastage more than compensate for losing a few indecisive or unwilling customers. You'll pick up far more who appreciate the efficiencies of online ordering through Pekkish.
